Google now offers free full-length SAT practice tests in the Gemini app

At Bett UK 2026, Google announced that its Gemini app now offers free, full-length digital SAT practice tests. You open the app, ask Gemini to start a practice test, and work through a timed Reading and Writing module and Math module that mirror the real digital SAT format. It is available on iOS and Android.

It is a useful addition to a prep toolkit. It is not a replacement for the Bluebook app or for working through questions the way a strong tutor would.

What the feature actually does

  • Full-length tests. Both sections, timed, in the digital format students will see on test day.
  • Instant scoring. A scaled section score after each module, plus a composite at the end.
  • Skill-level feedback. A breakdown by skill area: algebra, grammar, data interpretation, reading comprehension, and so on.
  • Unlimited access. No per-test limit, no subscription.

How to use it

  1. Open the Gemini app on your phone.
  2. Ask Gemini to start an SAT practice test, or to focus on a specific section.
  3. Complete the timed modules in a quiet room with nothing else open.
  4. Review the score report and make a short list of the skill areas you missed most.

Where it helps the most

The best use case is volume. College Board publishes a small number of official full-length practice tests. Expensive courses add a handful more. Gemini gives you as many full-length reps as you want, which matters for pacing and endurance more than anything else.

The second best use is diagnostic work. A skill-level breakdown after a full test is the fastest way to decide what to focus the next week of studying on.

Where it still falls short

  • Bluebook is still the gold standard. It is what students sit for on test day. Gemini is a supplement, not a replacement.
  • Phone screens are not test conditions. Practicing on a laptop with a real keyboard and a proper scratchpad is closer to the actual experience.
  • Feedback is broad, not surgical. A category like "reading comprehension" covers several distinct question types. A good tutor or a careful review of your own work will find patterns Gemini will not.

How to fit it into a real prep plan

  • Baseline first. Take one Gemini test cold to see where you are.
  • Use Bluebook for your "real" practice. Score those tests seriously.
  • Use Gemini for extra volume. Additional full-length reps between official tests, especially for pacing.
  • Review every wrong answer by hand. The AI report tells you what you missed. It does not replace the habit of asking why.
  • Simulate the real setting. Laptop, quiet room, timed, no phone within reach.

The short version

Free, unlimited, full-length SAT practice in an app is a real addition to the prep landscape. Used as a supplement to Bluebook and to disciplined review, it can move a score. Used as the only prep tool on a phone, it probably cannot.
